Week 10 | Get Outside


Go Outside. Step out into the world and really take it all in. Feeling cranky? Go outside. Feeling happy? Go outside. Feeling sad? Go outside. It’s about the most awake you can get in life. Start with 10 minutes a day and work your way up to 30 minutes a day.

I decided to let the girls help plant seeds in the herb garden, and quit worrying about whether it was too late to plant them, if I was doing it right and whether or not it would work. 

* Six inches apart * 1/4 inch deep * plant in winter months May-June * thin them out prefers full sun *

Because if it works, great!  The girls get to watch something grow from seed, they get to water them, they get to taste the mint, basil and parsley.  Besides, Maycee taught me that a plant needs, "water, sun and love to grow".

And if it doesn't work, then, what has been lost?  A few bucks?  Naah.  Them learning about nature and life is way more important than those few bucks.  

But what I really want to know, is will they be more likely to complain less at dinner if it's sprinkled with the herbs that THEY helped to grow??  Nevermind.  Don't answer that.
